Defects are usually identified by Operators or Fitters via the Operator App. This usually occurs during a Digital Inspection or Digital Prestart.
Please review the below Article for reference for adding a Defect in the Operator App.
The following steps are a guideline on how to best track and rectify identified Defects within the VIPER Metrics App.
Note: You will require the "Edit Defects" permission to access this
VIPER recommends having the Operations Dashboard projected within the office. This runs live and will show once a Prestart has been completed against a machine and outline any new Defects that have been identified.
This page can be accessed by selecting the "OPERATIONS" dropdown and selecting "OPS DASHBOARD".
The Ops Dashboard will be presented as below.
All new Defects will be listed in the top left hand of the page, and all Assets that have been Prestarted will have a number in the icon on the top right hand corner of the Asset representing how many Prestarts have been received for that Asset for that day.
To see a Defect in more Detail, click on the Defect Number.
All information related to the Defect will show as per below.
If the User who has identified the Defect has added a photo as evidence (highly recommended), this can be viewed under the "ATTACHMENTS" tab.
Once you have reviewed the new Defect, ensure the correct Defect Category has been chosen. Information on the different Categories are below.
If you need to update the category, simply select the current category.
Select the dropdown.
Select the correct Category, and select the tick to save.
Important: If a Category 1 Defect is identified, it is best practice to flag this Asset as 'Out of Service' by creating an Event.
Refer to the below Article:
To create an Event from this tab, click on the "Create Event" button, on the right side of this screen.
Next, identify the parts required to complete this Defect.
Once parts have been identified, upload parts list into the parts tab.
Parts can be uploaded one line item at a time by selecting "+ NEW PART REQUIRED".
Enter in information into the blank text fields and select the tick when completed.
Alternatively, parts can be uploaded from a Caterpillar or Komatsu Shopping Cart or the VIPER Template by selecting the "UPLOAD" button.
Once parts have been uploaded, update the parts status to either "Identified" or "Ordered" to show this status has been updated.
Next, leave an update if applicable. Do this by going to the "UPDATES" tab and select "NEW UPDATE".
Type update and select save.
Updates will now be visible to yourself and other Users who have access to Defects.
TIP: Operators completing Prestarts will also have the ability to view the Updates to keep up to date with the progress of the repairs.
Next, select the date you are planning to rectify the Defect. Please refer to the below Article.
Once the Defect has been rectified, mark the Defect as closed. Please refer to the below Article.
