Note: The User permission "Edit Inspection Templates" is required.
Digital Inspections can be created within the VIPER Metrics App, and completed in the Operator App.
Begin by navigating to the Inspector Builder under the "INSPECTIONS" dropdown in the Menu.
Next, select "INSPECTION BUILDER"
Begin by entering an Inspection Name.
Next, select the type of Inspection this template will be. Each type has a different use in VIPER. As an example, the Prestart Template will add all the data to the Prestart Register.
If this template is limited to specific User Permissions, please select the relevant permissions or leave it empty to allow all users including Operators to access the template.
Tip: If this is a Preventative Maintenance template, select the User Permissions to "Edit Maintenance Tasks" and "Edit Defects".
If this template is limited to specific Projects, please select.
If the template is specific to a particular Asset, Select the Asset type.
Tip: This step is important as it will only filter the select Asset type when the Digital Inspection is being completed.
If Defects may be identified during the completion of this Inspection, select "Create Defects".
If an end SMU will be required, ensure this box is selected.
Tip: This is particularly helpful for digital Prestarts as it will capture how many hours were utilised during a shift.
There is the option to mark a template as "Draft" if you are still in the process of creating the template. Ensure this box is selected if that is the case.
A template can be broken up into multiple sections.
Select "+ SECTION" to create the first section.
There are a variety of questions you may enter into the template.
Begin by naming the section by clicking on "No Title".

A generic check is simple a "yes" or "no" question and answer. If "no" is answered, this will typically prompt a Defect to be identified and listed.
Begin by selecting "+ GENERIC CHECK".
Start by adding the Item that requires checking.
Next, select the Defect Category
Select whether this check if N/A Allowed. If the N/A box is ticked, this means the User completing the Inspection does not need to complete this question.
Next, select whether a photo will be required.
Note: If "On Defect" is selected, anytime a Defect is identified, a photo will be required. If "Always" is selected, a photo will be required every time this question is answered.
If a photo is required, select "+ NEW REQUIRED PHOTO".
Enter in the photo description.
Note: Even if no photo is required, Users completing the Inspection will always have the option to upload a photo.
Next, select which System a Defect will be linked to if identified.
If there are any notes to help the Inspector, add this into the bottom text field. An example of this may be a fluid type.
Finally, select complete to save question.

This is a good option if a Date is to be recorded, some examples may be Fire Suppression tag date, seatbelt date, or ever date of the next service listed on the service sticker.
Begin by selecting a "+ DATE"
Enter item that is to be checked, and whether N/A is allowed.
Select complete to save question.

A reference image can be helpful to help guide the Inspector.
Some examples may be of Magnetic Plugs, or Ball Studs.
Begin by selecting "+ REFERENCE IMAGE"
Type in an title that will outline what the photo is of.
Select "UPLOAD"
Select complete to add the reference photo to the Inspection.
